Medical Difficulties (Special Needs in the Early Years)
Authors: Hannah Mortimer, Debbie Clark
Synopsis: This book will help all early
years professionals to recognise and understand such difficulties and
to provide inclusive activities. It will also help them to keep in
touch with children who are ill at home or in hospital, in order to
help them to continue to feel included. There is advice on the legal
requirements of handling special needs, including information on the
Code of Practice for special needs and ideas for working with parents
and outside agencies. There are six chapters of practical activities
linked to all six areas of the Early Learning Goals. These show how
medical difficulties can be supported in an inclusive approach that
involves all children in the group. A section of supporting
photocopiable activities are included and there is information on
further sources of help and information.
