Easter is a Christian festival which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The English word "Easter" is derived from Eostre who was an Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring. It is traditional in Easter for eggs to be given as a symbol of new life. These are often brightly decorated or made of chocolate. Key days over the Easter period include:

• Palm Sunday: The Sunday before Easter. Palm Sunday commemorates Christ's arrival in Jerusalem to the cheers of the crowds.
